Methodology and War with Dilar Dirik (5 May)

Monday 5 May 2025, 11am – 1pm, Practice Suite 1.12, Chrystal Macmillan Building

In this seminar, we will explore the meaning and limits of research in a context of asymmetric war and counterinsurgency. How to write history in a global context of counterterrorism and geopolitical complexity? What ethical and political responsibilities arise for researchers who study radical and revolutionary struggles?

The seminar is open to PhD students, post-doctoral fellows, academic staff, PGR students. Readings will be shared with participants to read ahead of the workshop.

Bio: Dr Dilar Dirik is an independent researcher and writer. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Cambridge. Her book “The Kurdish Women’s Movement: History, Theory, Practice” was published in 2022 with Pluto Press.
