The Solidarities Lab is dedicated to exploring histories, theories, and practices of “solidarity”. Bridging local, transnational, and global perspectives, we aim to interrogate those neglected interdependencies that do not figure in the standard views of solidarity but that need to be recognized, critiqued and, eventually, transformed, in order to lay new foundations for more expansive relations of solidarity.

The Lab organizes events to facilitate sustained reflection on the problems and possibilities of solidarity. Past events include:

Decolonizing Climate JusticeBlack TransnationalismCommoning the SocialRevolutionary Meaning-Making, Poetry and Solidarity, Caring SolidarityMusic and Anti-Imperial Solidarity, and Anticolonial Solidarity

The Lab also hosts a regular Reading Group. Recent texts under discussion include:

David Featherstone, Solidarity: Hidden Histories and Geographies of Solidarity

Shana L. Redmond, Anthem: Social Movemets and the Sound of Solidarity in the African Diaspora
