CRITIQUE-EEHN work-in-progress: Samantha Vice on environmental aesthetics (15 January)
The first CRITIQUE event of the spring 2025 semester will be a work-in-progress session where Prof Samantha Vice (Wits/IASH) will present work from her IASH research project on environmental aesthetics.
It will take place on 15 January in 3.15 Chrystal Macmillan Building, from 3.30-5pm. It is co-hosted with Edinburgh Environmental Humanities Network (EEHN).
Samantha Vice is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She is currently African Fellow at IASH, where she is working on a project called ‘The Aesthetics of Nature in the Context of Anthropogenic Climate Change’. Her work-in-progress paper will draw on her IASH research and her recent monograph, The Ethics of Animal Beauty (Lexington Press, 2023).
