Diversifying Philosophy: Routes and Problems (13 February)

13 February 2025 11:00-13:00 GMT
Practice Suite, Chrystal Macmillan Building
A pedagogical workshop with Monika Kirloskar-Steinbach, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Currently, different approaches are proposed to diversify academic philosophy. They seek to achieve a better fit between philosophizing as a social activity and our interdependent world. The talk will first sketch these routes and then discuss how recent publications on world philosophies can be situated within the ensemble of these approaches. Finally, we will discuss the stakes of doing philosophy differently within the academy.
This is a pre-read workshop. Please read Monika’s ‘Teaching World Philosophies: An Essay‘ and ‘Come, Play with Me‘.
